Google made Gemini 4 Argon, its new flagship model, generally available on October 13, 2026. It is rolling out globally to developers, enterprises and Gemini app subscribers.

What Argon is built for

Google describes Argon as its most capable model, built for complex software engineering, deep mathematical and scientific problem solving, autonomous multi-step agents and long-form generation. Google says it "works longer and harder" to solve highly complex scientific, coding and agentic problems.

A unified 1M-token limit

According to Google's developer documentation, input, thinking and output share one window of 1,048,576 tokens. A single response can now go past 64K tokens, up to 1M tokens minus your input. The default thinking level is medium. Agentic video understanding is also now generally available.

Pricing

Argon launches at an introductory price through November 30, 2026:

  • Input: $2 per 1M tokens ($4 from December 1, 2026)
  • Output, including thinking tokens: $10 per 1M tokens ($20 from December 1, 2026)
  • Cached input: 95% off through implicit caching, $0.10 per 1M tokens ($0.20 from December 1)

Argon is not available on the Gemini API free tier.

Where you can use it

  • Developers: the Gemini API paid tier in AI Studio and Android Studio, with model ID gemini-4-argon. Google AI Ultra subscribers can also try it in Google Antigravity.
  • Enterprises: Gemini for business, the API and Google Antigravity, according to Google Cloud.
  • Everyday users: the Gemini app and AI Mode in Search for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers.

Gemini app updates

Alongside Argon, Google said the Gemini app now has a toggle to switch from chat to tasks, letting Gemini work for you even when you are away from your computer. Google Antigravity's agentic coding interface is now available directly in the Gemini macOS app. Gemini also connects to more than 40 apps, including Instacart, OpenTable, Adobe and Shopify.

Google also says Argon answers more directly, with less hedging and repetition, and shares progress more often on longer tasks.
